The Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola received a nomination in the field of “Educational, educational and promotional programs” for “Accessible Museum – an integrated educational program for people with disabilities.”

“ACCESSIBLE MUSEUM – AN INTEGRATED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES”. The program creates new educational solutions in the field of cultural accessibility for people with disabilities. At the same time, it popularizes the accessibility of museums by organizing training courses for museum professionals on how to serve visitors with disabilities and use the programs and tools created.

The result of the measures taken is not only the gallery of sculptures decorating the courtyard, designed for tactile perception, but also the successive elimination of architectural barriers inside the building and the increasingly wide educational offer for disabled guests. The museum has held exhibitions of art by artists with disabilities, accompanied by catalogs, and an educational package has been issued. Museum guides are trained to guide intellectually disabled, visually impaired and deaf people in sign language.

An additional benefit of this project is that it increases the attractiveness of the museum’s offer to all its visitors. The museum breaks down barriers, defies the commonplace museum injunction: “Do not touch,” and architectural improvements make the Museum accessible also to the elderly.
