Youth for the Independent

Youth for the Independent

11-18.11.2018, 1 Sandomierska St., YOUTH FOR THE INDEPENDENT

The exhibition presents selected attitudes of the young generation of Poles in the last decades of the partitions. It draws attention to the involvement of Polish youth in the efforts of the entire nation to regain an independent state. Addressed mainly to a young audience, it discusses some of the leading activities of their peers at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries: student activity (the Union of Polish Youth “Zet”), physical culture (the “Sokol” Gymnastic Society), the scouting and scouting movement, activity in paramilitary organizations (the Riflemen’s Association, the Polish Riflemen’s Squads, the Bartosz Squads).

The content and iconography of the exhibition takes into account regional themes. Set in the broader context of the struggle for independence, it becomes a helpful educational tool in discussing the historical success of 1918 and popularizing regional and national heritage.
