Viva Moniuszko!
22.11.2019-23.02.2020, Children’s Education Center in the building of the Alphonse Karpinski Painting Gallery
The Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola invites you to another unusual educational exhibition in the building of the Alfons Karpinski Painting Gallery. This time we will look at the life and works of the great Polish composer and patriot Stanislaw Moniuszko. This is because this year we are celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of this brilliant artist, often referred to as the “father of Polish national opera.”
2019 is a special year in the history of Polish culture, and music in particular, because it has been dedicated to Stanislaw Moniuszko – an extraordinary composer, educator and patriot, passionate about the traditions of our nation. The Stalowa Wola Regional Museum decided to join in the events accompanying this jubilee. From November 22 this year, in the building of the Alfons Karpinski Painting Gallery, you will be able to see the exhibition Viva Moniuszko! With this magnificent exposition, the Grand Theater – National Opera in Warsaw has inaugurated the Moniuszko Year. Through the exhibition, the Regional Museum would like to bring the residents of the San River region closer to the extraordinary biography and impressive works of this great Polish musician.
The exhibition, presented in the building of the Alfons Karpinski Painting Gallery, has been prepared especially for young music enthusiasts, who will be able to see, among other things, designs of decorations and costumes for Stanislaw Moniuszko’s operas: “The Haunted Manor”, ‘Halka’ or ‘The Countess’, as well as the composer’s original baton. The exhibition also provides an opportunity to learn more about the prominent opera singer Salomea Krushelnitskaya, who lived in nearby Nisk during a certain period of her life.
In a special acoustic booth you can listen to and sing – as if at karaoke – “Prząśniczka” by Stanislaw Moniuszko.
A highlight of the exhibition is the unconventional, colorful arrangement of presenting Stanislaw Moniuszko in reference to the work of pop art masters Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, which is sure to appeal to many a young art viewer.
The exhibition will be accompanied by an interesting educational offer – details at www.muzeum.stalowawola.pl under the education tab.
