The exhibition, organized in the year of the 75th anniversary of the founding of Stalowa Wola, presents 63 unique photographs of the emerging settlement made by Eng. Bronislaw Rudzinski(1906-?). Integral part of the exhibition are urban plans and architectural projects of his authorship created for Stalowa Wola.
The unique black-and-white photographs presented at the exhibition were taken by Eng. Rudzinski in 1938 and included in the album. On them he immortalized the formation of the city, the construction of more buildings, numerous visits to the estate by government officials and experts.
Each photo was accompanied by a short commentary by the author. The album is dedicated to Major Smidovich. Lt. Col. Ing. Michal Jozef Smidowicz (1890-1971) served in the Construction Department of the Ministry of Military Affairs, and probably as its representative supervised the construction of the Stalowa Wola housing estate.
Bronislaw Rudzinski ̶ a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology, worked for the Military Lodging Fund as an independent architect and designer. The FKW financed and supervised the construction of apartment blocks in Stalowa Wola. For the FKW, Bronislaw Rudzinski created architectural designs for public buildings (including the headquarters of the city office) and blocks of flats. He also cooperated with the Society of Workers’ Estates involved in the construction of the estate. Unrealized designs of workers’ houses made for this institution by Rudzinski have survived to our days. The engineer’s fate after leaving Stalowa Wola, as well as the date of his death, remain unknown so far.
