Solarization - an exhibition of photographs by Jan Wierzbicki

Jan Wierzbicki (born 1957) – a member of the founding group of the Stalowa Wola Photographic Association “ANIMUS”, began his adventure with photography by capturing landscapes and figures. Currently, he transforms various seemingly uninteresting objects into new, original forms.

The exhibition presents solarizations, counted in photography among the so-called “free techniques”. As a result of special methods of processing photographic material, during copying, an image is created that is a composite of a strong negative and a weak positive image. This is accompanied by a pronounced edge effect at the junction of the two images. In this way, completely new, extremely plastic creations are created, full of surreal colors and shapes.
