Organized since 2002 by the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola, the AUTOPORTRET competition inspired by the work of a selected artist is the only art competition for students and graduates of art academies whose subject is the artist’s own image.
The competition has become a forum for confrontation of artists of the younger generation from many academic circles of Poland, Europe and the USA in two planes: synchronous (young artists compete among themselves) and diachronic (each author invokes an established artist as a source of inspiration for himself).
The best works are presented at a post-competition exhibition not only in Stalowa Wola, but also in galleries in Poland. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog published in Polish and English.
