RECTO-VERSO. PROJECTS WITH POLISH AND FRENCH CRAFTSMEN

8-16.09.2017

Exhibition by Pawel Grobelny as part of Paris Design Week 2017

“RECTO-VERSO. PROJECTS WITH POLISH AND FRENCH CRAFTSMEN “CENTER FOR FASHION AND DESIGN IN PARIS

The exhibition “RECTO-VERSO”Pavel Grobelny will be presented during September’s Design Week in Paris at the event’s most important venue – the

at the Center for Fashion and Design. The exhibition at the Paris Fashion and Design Center each year presents a selection of about seventy designers from around the world, and the designers are selected by a jury appointed by the organizers of Paris Design Week.

The exhibition “RECTO-VERSO. Projects with Polish and French Craftsmen” presents a series of objects made in cooperation with craftsmen from Poland and France and realized

in various materials – ceramics, glass and metal. All projects presented at the exhibition are united by the slogan “RECTO-VERSO” – because each object has two functions and the user changes them when turned. A vase turns into an ashtray when turned, another vase turns into a candleholder, and yet another turns into a bowl. The “RECTO-VERSO” series consists of objects that we rarely use at home. Hence the idea to include a dual function in one object and thus reduce the number of objects in our environment. The objects provoke us to turn and play with them, not only because their purpose changes at that moment, but also their form.

This is the fourth time Pawel Grobelny has participated in the Paris Design Week exhibition at the Paris Fashion and Design Center. In 2013, he also received the 1st Rado Star France Audience Award, awarded annually by Paris Design Week.
