Polished Up w Pradze!
Festiwal Designblok.
Praski Tydzień Designu i Mody 22-27.10.2015
This time, the POLISHED UP design exhibition will be exhibited at the Designblok festival in Prague.
The criterion used by the curators in selecting objects for the exhibition is the cooperation between the designer and manufacturer, a conscious decision to take a joint risk in launching an object addressed to a specific group of recipients. Although the target group is often elitist, although the selected products are far from being described as ‘mass’, they are nevertheless proof that the Polish market is changing and maturing. The exhibition is also proof that very interesting implementations are taking place, which are the finale of cooperation between Polish designers and Polish manufacturers. Not all the designs on display are products of large factories, some are still produced in limited series by the authors. However, those designers who have taken on the hardships of production themselves know how to go about it and how to distribute their products. Polished Up is a subjective curatorial selection that is not intended to show what the situation of design in Poland is like. It is just a slice, but in the curators’ opinion it is significant and worthy of attention. One thing has not changed over these five years – Polish designers still think straight, have a sense of humour, still appreciate natural materials, flirt with craft and tradition.
