The talented Cracow-based sculptor, Pawel Erazmus, will present his extraordinary, intimate works for the first time at the Regional Museum in his hometown of Stalowa Wola. The exhibition consists of more than 100 sculptures showing the nature of the artist’s oeuvre. An attraction of the vernissage will be the drawing of a sculpture donated by the author – buyers of the catalog will take part in the lottery.
Paul Erazmus is particularly interested in human and animal figures in a wide variety of plots and cycles. In his works, the artist shows great imagination with which he depicts their dynamics, and the ease with which he alludes to history and legends. Visible in his works is the reference to medieval tradition, if only through the unusually elongated proportions, strongly outlined hands and feet of the figures. Erazmus’ sculptures are static only on the surface, in fact they take on an extremely expressive form.
As Professor Jerzy Madeyski writes: “Erazmus sculpts con amore, so only what he likes, what he likes, what his liking and imagination can carry to the pedestal of idealization.”
Pavel Erazmus’ sculptures are made of bronze in an ancient tradition, not an easy technique of lost wax. Their fairy-tale charm appeals to everyone, regardless of age or knowledge of art. They are simply beautiful forms that please the eyes, while stimulating imagination and deeper reflection.
