The next instalment of the Stalowa Wola exhibition ‘Natural Resources of Polish Design’, curated by Agnieszka Jacobson-Cielecka, took place in Krakow as part of the ‘Rzecz Małopolska. Etnodizajn Festival’, which will begin on 6 November 2009 with a session entitled “Rozmowy o etnodizajnie”.
The aim of the festival, initiated by the Seweryn Udziela Ethnographic Museum in Kraków, is to examine the connections that have existed for over a century between ethnography and design, as well as their contemporary relationships.
November 7-22, 2009
The exhibition titled Natural Resources of Polish Design, guest-presented during the Kraków festival and curated by Agnieszka Jacobson-Cielecka, will showcase the influence of folk motifs and techniques on contemporary Polish design, decorative arts, and architecture. The exhibition serves as an attempt to synthesize, summarize, and gather, in one time and place, works inspired by Polish folk art and craftsmanship—encompassing form, material, technical solutions, and poetic aspects.
The exhibition will present both industrially manufactured products and unique prototypes, featuring projects by young creators alongside well-known hits of Polish design—totaling several dozen various objects, including: MOHO carpets by Joanna Rusin and Agnieszka Czop, Aze Design, DBWT lamps by Tomek Rygalik and Agnieszka Lasota, and Vis a Vis, architectural projects of the Polish pavilion for EXPO 2010 and the Opole Land Museum, as well as designs from Gogo, Malafora, Poor Design, Betonu, and many others.
