Museum exhibits inspire us

The exhibition being prepared is the aftermath of an online campaign by the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola, which aimed to draw attention to the beauty and diversity of the region’s cultural heritage. From December 2020 to June 30, 2021, Internet users got to know interesting examples of folk design found in the museum’s collections. They were able to be inspired by them and apply them to their artistic projects. More than a hundred works were submitted to the exhibition.

The Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola prepared an unusual exhibition based on interaction with Internet users as a result of the announcement of the museum’s on-line project. The task of the participant in the project (three categories: children, youth, adults) was to make any artistic work inspired by the design or designs provided by the Museum online. The works could be made using any technique, on an object or material of the creator’s choice, material such as clay, glass, paper, wood. The exhibition, in addition to the submitted works of children, teenagers and adults, will also present museum pieces that inspired Internet users. Among the designer projects, sophisticated works made by visual artists, there are also interesting realizations of people for whom folk art is a daily source of inspiration and development of skills and talents. Ornaments were not only applied to objects, but also materials were shaped using the proposed designs. The exhibition will feature interesting jewelry and handbags, as well as decorations for the home. Younger participants applied folk decorations to paper, clay, wood and glass. They also designed prints for T-shirts, bookmarks or phone cases. Some of the museum’s designs were of particular interest to surfers, which translated into the number of works using them. In addition to their decorative qualities, the presented works will certainly play a utilitarian role, such as lamps, mirrors, plates, flowerpots or shopping bags.

The exhibition titled Museum exhibits inspire us. The exhibition of works submitted to the museum’s project titled Folk decorations inspire young and old will be open until October 17, 2021. Admission is free.
