Lubomirskis of the Rzeszow and Rozwadów line in portrait

March 24 – April 19, 2002

The temporary exhibition The Lubomirskis of the Rzeszow and Rozwadów Line in Portrait depicts one of the most powerful magnate families of the Republic of Poland. For the last two centuries the Lubomirskis have been associated with the lands on the lower San River. The acquisition of the town of Rozwadów and the surrounding manors by the Lubomirskis around the mid-18th century gave rise to the Rzeszow-Dzwadów line of the family.

At the same time, it was a watershed moment for the economic and cultural development of the entire region. Rozwadów then gains the rank of an administrative center and large landownership, and becomes the seat of a large parish. Economic development is accompanied by the cultural flourishing of the town. The exhibition dedicated to the Lubomirski family of the Rzeszow-Dzwiedów line presents a gallery of old portrait paintings (17th-19th centuries), dedicated to the magnate family. In addition to the beautiful portraits, numerous photographs and mementos of the Lubomirskis, from Rozwadów and its surroundings, have been collected.

The exhibition is accompanied by a publication prepared by the Regional Museum, which is a monograph of the Lubomirski Family of the Rzeszow-Rzwadów line, written by Rev. Wilhelm Gaj-Piotrowski. Based on archival research, source texts and scientific literature, it is the result of in-depth studies of the history of this family.
