Landscapes and still lifes from the American collection of Tom Podl
December 19, 2005 – January 22, 2006
The presented paintings come from the American collection of Polish paintings, assembled by Tom Podl – a descendant of Polish emigrants, for years active on the collector’s market, thanks to which he owns a collection considered one of the best abroad.
At the exhibition in Stalowa Wola you will be able to see its fragment, constituting a certain cross-sectional picture of the collection and showing its Polish character. A significant part of the works comes from the first half of the 20th century.
Many of the creators of the paintings on display are counted among the Polish colony in Paris. We will meet here, therefore, French landscapes by Zygmunt Landau, Tadeusz Makowski or Henryk Epstein, among others. Jan Rubczak, on the other hand, was equally passionate about painting both the corners of French cities and the Polish capital. In turn, works by Julian Falat, Jan Stanislawski and Rafal Malczewski depict the Polish landscape.
The exhibition also includes still lifes, brushed by such authors as Władysław Ślewiński, Józef Czapski, Jan Cybis, Hanna Rudzka- Cybisowa, Józef Pankiewicz and Wojciech Weiss.
