Intriguing, unique, extraordinary… Such are the works of an exceptional artist – Jan Lebenstein. Since November 14, all connoisseurs of art will be able to peek into his world of painting and graphics, for a new temporary exhibition entitled “Jan Lebenstein 1930-1999” will open at the Alfons Karpinski Painting Gallery in Stalowa Wola. “Jan Lebenstein 1930-1999”.
It will be an extraordinary journey in the footsteps of the work of the outstanding Polish artist, during which we will find a variety of works, coming from the collections of Polish collectors: Maria and Marek Pilecki, Urszula and Piotr Hofman and a collector from Sopot. The exhibition includes more than 70 objects such as oil paintings, gouaches, drawings, and other graphic forms from various periods of Lebenstein’s work. Their selection is intended to best illustrate the activities of the artist, who undoubtedly belongs to the canon of the most outstanding Polish artists of the 20th century.
Jan Lebenstein is a painter and graphic artist, as well as a book illustrator, known both in Poland and abroad. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and then lived and worked in France, where he gained popularity. His work is characterized by extraordinary fantasy, grotesque, expressiveness and symbolism filled with human-animal motifs.

Exhibition organized by the National Art Gallery in Sopot and Zegart Agency. The works come from the collections of private collectors: Ursula and Piotr Hofman, Maria and Marek Pilecki and a collector from Sopot.
