Exiles - Siberians - Deportees
October 15 – November 30, 2010
Until November 30, 2010, in the didactic building of the Catholic University of Lublin, 8 Ofiar Katynia Street in Stalowa Wola, you can see the exhibition “Deportees – Sybiracy – Deported”.
The exposition, organized through the efforts of the Rzeszow Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance, the Union of Siberians – Circle in Stalowa Wola and the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola, takes place within the framework of the Year of the Siberian in the Podkarpackie Province. Its announcement is connected with the 70th anniversary of the first mass deportation of Poles to Siberian gulags, which falls this year. The exhibition tells the story of Poles exiled deep into Russia and the USSR between 1768 and 1956.
More than a dozen boards show photographs, documents and souvenirs from exile. A separate board talks about the activities of the Union of Siberians and efforts to preserve the memory of the “Golgotha of the East.” The exhibition will also feature interesting materials donated by people currently living in the Podkarpackie province who were deported or interned in the USSR.
The exhibition is accompanied by an unusual educational offer: museum lessons conducted by members of the Siberian Circle in Stalowa Wola. Reservations for the lessons are made by the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola, tel. 15 844 85 56, ext. 11.
The exhibition is open daily from 9 am to 7 pm
