City and Forest is an exhibition promoting knowledge about animals living in cities The authors of the exhibition draw attention to birds, insects and mammals living in cities, to their needs, habits, the dangers they are exposed to, but also to the benefits that man has from their neighborhood. They also draw attention to the aesthetics and functionality of the nesting boxes built for them
The exhibition is aimed at all nature lovers. Arranged in such a way as to particularly interest and sensitize children, who actively learn about animal life through tasks and special installations. Awaiting the children are, large nests, which they can enter and play with Tyvek pillows printed with symbols of materials from which animals build nests: twigs, leaves, feathers… Next to it, in an enlarged nesting box, children can nest eggs. Through tasks, visitors learn about the behavior and habits of animals living in the city. One can take the role of creative observers, choose, the animal they want to know best. The exhibition is full of interesting facts about the ordinary and extraordinary customs of urban animals.
The exhibition features 10 stalls designed by well-known Polish designers. They themselves chose the animals for which they designed the stalls. The designers’ decisions resulted from their experiences, sometimes from current needs, but also from concerns about changes in the surrounding environment. They wanted the kennels whose prototypes will be presented at the exhibition to meet the needs of their inhabitants.
