Collective exhibition CITY AND SEN from the series 10 X INACZEJ
26.07 – 18.08.2019, 1 Sandomierska St.
The exhibition CITY AND DREAM is an encounter with the separate, different, diverse, somehow close to each other art of four young female artists. Its feature is a special kind of distance from the world and people, or perhaps more like looking at it from the perspective of time, memory, distance and space. And in addition, with these mentioned features, the atmosphere of the whole seems to be one of anticipation, fear, anxiety, emotion and reverie. A painted cityscape with people passing by each other busy with everyday life.
In JOANNA KAŁDAN’s paintings they are separate, perhaps even lonely, deprived of the chance to meet, talk, make friends. Strangely in her canvases they are united by geometry, perhaps even by the corset of the order of form, which, after all, they themselves have created with their lives. AGNIESZKA WIELEWSKA’s cities and people are generally warm, even when the memory of someone’s figure slips away, increasingly blurred, retreating into extra-material space. The living are a single joyful encounter. They are you and me. Our good with each other, experiencing ourselves and the world with each other. NATALIA BUCHTY animals, a family from a photograph, someone close and an eruption of the power of nature. Its multicolor and ornamentation of shapes. Playfulness to the point of bitter grotesqueness and passion. In the memory? The present? And with the question, will something of it remain, or will it disappear, fade away? Dreams or jawa? BARBARA IWAŃSKA’S works are worlds and stories seemingly real, and as it is in art, extra-concealed, not straightforward. Here again she herself, generally her own model for herself, conducts before our eyes a vast narrative about gardens, overgrowth, moments of elation and… passing. There is no ostentation or feminist revolutionary or social slogans so fashionable today in this exhibition. For what else is she about. In every encounter here with a drawing, monotype, collage, object, intimate and large-format canvas, installation, we are left alone and… have time for reflection and contemplation.
