21 February – 13 April 2003

Many of us do not realise how unusual the world of our Polish nature is, how unparalleled in urbanised Europe.

From 14.02.-13.04.2003, the Stalowa Wola Regional Museum presented two exhibitions of nature photography – the fruit of seven years’ work of Artur Tabor, ornithologist and photographer, collaborating with, among others, the National Geographic.

Artur Tabor takes his photographs and films from behind the scenes – he spends many hours in ingenious hiding places that he himself creates in order to capture in his lens skittish, rare specimens of native fauna. This way of working yields excellent results, as evidenced by his numerous awards.

The first of the exhibitions, which could be seen in the Stalowa Wola museum, entitled ‘The ones that jump and fly’. ‘Te co skaczą i latają’ was awarded the first prize at the International Festival MIKROSFERA in Białowieża in September 2002, while the film ’Podlaski przełom Bugu’ accompanying the second exhibition: ‘Bug. Nadbużańskie Podlasie’ won First Prize at the National Ecological Film Review in Przysiek near Toruń in 2002.

The exhibitions were accompanied by multimedia presentations, a catalogue and postcards, and the acoustic setting was provided by nature glosses recorded on CD. It was also possible to watch films: The Podlasie Gorge of the Bug River and the Nadbuzhany Landscape Park, as well as a miniature How to make a nature film.
