Alphonse Karpinski - monographic exhibition

An exhibition devoted to the works of a well-known and respected artist of the modernist generation, a pupil of Leon Wyczółkowski, among others – Alfons Karpinski. The famous painter hails from Rozwadów, and his immense popularity at art auctions places him among the leading Polish artists of the first half of the 20th century.
The exhibition Alfons Karpinski /1875-1961/ organized jointly by the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola and the District Museum in Sandomierz includes more than 100 oil paintings, watercolors, pastels, drawings and prints of the artist. It represents a representative selection of the artist’s best-known works, reflecting all stages of his career, starting with academic works, through folk scenes, Parisian studies, Cracow portrait painting from the period before World War I, war landscapes, ending with fully mature post-war art with predominant themes of portraits, interiors and still lifes.
