With pen and lens through the history of the city of Rozwadów
With pen and lens – through the history of the city of Rozwadów, is an album published with the support of the Municipal Office of Stalowa Wola. It consists of photographs coming mainly from the collection of Karol Karbarz – a young Rozwadów resident, being an experienced collector of antique objects and an expert in the history of the town, supplemented by photographs lent by several private persons and selected from the Regional Museum archives. The photographic coverage is complemented by texts by Marek WIatrowicz, describing the presented places, people and events.
Rozwadów, which today is a settlement of Stalowa Wola, for more than two and a half centuries remained a town of craft and trade specificity, with its own color and traditions. The climate of this town was created by its residents, arriving from different parts of the world attracted by favorable economic conditions and leaving displaced by wars or changes in economic prosperity, and in their place soon came new ones….
The township has always had an international character. A significant part of its population has always been Jewish, with lawyers, princely officialdom, teachers, merchants, Capuchin friars coming from different lands. Its stature was influenced by county offices, the court, schools and an important railroad station.
Inevitable historical changes affecting any place often change its image, but Rozwadów by all means deserves to be reminded and documented of its history, which is what the new book proposed to readers serves.
