We cordially invite children and teenagers to enroll in the courses of the School of Drawing and Painting “Karpinski”. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your passions among peers.

Art Classes for Children (Ages 9–13)

These art classes for children focus on nurturing creativity and developing skills in drawing, painting, and other artistic techniques. Each session begins with a short introduction, designed to inspire and set the stage for the creative activities. Childhood is a time of open-minded exploration, and our goal is to deepen this natural ability. Through exposure to art, children can develop their artistic talents and find new ways to express themselves. Students, divided by age groups, enjoy creative time with their peers under the guidance of a skilled art instructor.

Class Topics:

  • What is Composition? – unity and variety, symmetry and asymmetry, the golden ratio
  • The Magic of Colors – warm, cool, and neutral colors
  • Still Life Composition – compositional exercises
  • Landscape – space composition and drawing studies
  • Alla Prima Still Life – experimenting with different painting techniques
  • Inspired by Water – a painting theme
  • Portrait Drawing – using grids for structure with colored pencils
  • Capturing Fleeting Moments – painting like the Impressionists
  • Glass Reflections – exploring light, with glass objects in still life
  • Who Were the Fauves? – exploring light and shadow
  • Self-Portrait – the art of self-representation and good composition
  • Introduction to Collage Techniques – combining materials and textures
  • Inspired by the Masters – studying great artists
  • Art Play – graphic design workshops
  • Chance in Painting – working with blotches and splatters

Schedule:
Thursdays, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
4 sessions per month (total of 8 hours)

Junior Course (Ages 14–17)

Instructor: Dr. Janusz Baran

The Junior Course is designed for young people who want to expand their knowledge and skills in drawing and painting.

Course Overview:

  1. Drawing as a Tool for Observation – understanding reality, and interpreting nature through artistic expression.

  2. Basics of Art History – with a focus on drawing and painting.

  3. Fundamentals of Drawing Terminology – understanding drawing as an independent discipline.

    • Two-dimensional aspects of drawing
    • Basics of realistic drawing principles
    • Composition types and contour importance
    • Linear value and stroke significance
    • Light and shadow, using black and white as expressive tools
    • Value study; the role of depth and tone
    • Graphic contrast and the light-dark dynamic
    • Basic human proportions, structure, and capturing the human form in motion
    • Introduction to basic painting techniques (watercolor, acrylic, tempera)

Practical Training in Drawing and Painting Techniques:

Materials include various pencils (different grades), charcoal, sanguine, soft pastels, oil pastels, ink drawing (steel nibs, pen), wash techniques (watercolor, ink, ecoline), and a variety of papers and textures.

Sample Thematic Exercises:

  • Composition: arrangement of geometric forms (pencil, charcoal)
  • Object Study: detailed drawing of objects (pencil, charcoal)
  • Fruit Still Life (acrylic paints)
  • Botanical Motifs (pastels, colored pencils)
  • Figure Study / Mannequin (pencil, charcoal, sanguine)
  • Spatial Composition, Imagination Exercise (sanguine + paints)
  • Interior Drawing Study (pencil, charcoal, colored pencils, pastels)
  • Head – Plaster Cast Study – detailed drawing
  • Autumn Themes, Imaginative Figures – mixing graphics with painting

Sundays, 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM
4 sessions per month (total of 10 hours)
Fee: 250 PLN per month
