Sybil 2010
The Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola received the first prize and the Sybil statuette in the “Museum Event of the Year 2010″ contest for the exhibition ‘Mikrus – a car that was not allowed to grow up’.
Two submitted events were also nominated for the awards: the “Early Middle Ages” exhibition and the “Interactive Space – an educational program for children, including the disabled” project, thus the Stalowa Wola museum became the most honored institution at the award ceremony.
On May 18 this year in the Old Town Hall in Toruń, the chairman of the jury, Prof. Jan Skuratowicz, from the Institute of Art History of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, announced the results of the competition for “Museum Event of the Year – Sibyl 2010″. The awards were presented by Piotr Żuchowski, Deputy Minister of Culture and General Conservator of Antiquities.
The competition for Museum Event of the Year – Sibylla, organized under the auspices of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, is the most prestigious rivalry in Polish museology. Triumph in this competition underlines the highest rank of a museum institution on the cultural map of the country.
The exhibition “Mikrus – a car which was not allowed to grow up”, organized by the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola, received the first prize and the Sybil statuette in the category “technology exhibitions” in the competition “Museum Event of the Year 2010″. Exhibition scenario: Anna Garbacz, cooperation Piotr Ludian; arrangement: Anna Skołożyńska-Cieciera.
This is not the end of honors for the Stalowa Wola Museum.
Two other submitted proposals were also among the events nominated by the jury for awards (only one was awarded in each category). The “Early Middle Ages” exhibition (curated by Monika Kuraś) – in the “ethnographic and archaeological exhibitions” category, and the “Interactive space – educational program for children, including the disabled” project – in the “educational undertakings” category.
Since each of the dozens of participating museums could submit only three proposals, it turned out that all of the presented Stalowa Wola museum events were appreciated by the jury, and the Regional Museum became the most honored institution in this edition of the competition.
