
Sibylla 2006
The Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola was this year among the winners of the prestigious ministerial competition “Museum Event of the Year, Sibylla 2006″.
Sybilla, the name of an ancient oracle, in the name of the contest refers to the famous Temple of Sybil in Puławy, the cradle of Polish museology.
The awards are given in 10 categories. There are about 800 museums in Poland, each of which can submit its achievements for the award. This year 250 entries were received. The competition committee deliberated under the chairmanship of Prof. Maria Poprzęcka.
The Regional Museum in Stalowa was called up as many as three times to receive the competition laurels. In the category: “Educational, educational and promotional programs” the Stalowa Wola institution won first place, for the educational program ‘Tourist Route of Lubomirski Family Nests’. In the “Ethnographic Exhibitions” category, Stalowa Wola won third prize for the “Culture of Galician Jews” exhibition. In the category “Achievements in the field of scientific activity”, the Stalowa Wola museum received a distinction for the publication “Archeology of the Sandomierz Basin”. – the fourth monographic issue of the Yearbook of the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola.
