Polish Internet contest
The Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola in the Polish Internet 2011 contest in the final category received one of two equal honors – that is, it was among the three absolute best of all contestants.
Stalowa Wola Museum’s award-winning website: www.it.stalowawola.pl promotes the Stalowa Wola, Lviv art déco architecture trail. The statuettes were received by Director Lucyna Mizera, the initiator of the project to popularize this architecture, within the framework of which not only the site was created, but also valuable publications and a broad educational program, all with funds from EU funds under the Poland-Belarus-Ukraine INTERREG IIIA/TACIS CBC 2004-2006 Neighborhood Program.
– I must admit that this award was a great and very pleasant surprise for us. The project “On the trail of art déco architecture, Stalowa Wola, Lviv”, to which the awarded website is devoted, was carried out by the Museum in 2006-2008,” says Director Lucyna Mizera, ”We wanted to draw attention to the underestimated urban-architectural uniqueness of Stalowa Wola, as well as to Lviv’s monuments from the interwar period, which are usually overlooked in the cultural richness of that city. Within the framework of the project there was also created an information point on the trail of art déco architecture and the awarded today website www.it.stalowawola.pl in three languages: Polish, Ukrainian and English, where monuments of art déco architecture in Stalowa Wola and Lviv are presented, as well as a wide tourist offer from Stalowa Wola, its vicinity and Lviv: interesting places, gastronomic and accommodation base, important telephones. The musical background is provided by pre-war hits. From the graphic and IT side, it was realized by Dr. Slawomir Plewko, an assistant in the Department of Digital Media Art of the Institute of Fine Arts of the Faculty of Arts of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin. Substantive texts on the art déco style were prepared by art historians Prof. Anna Sieradzka of Warsaw University and Dr. Anna Bancekova of the Lviv Art Gallery. The author of all photographs was the artist photographer Adam Krzykwa.
The work was coordinated by Ms. Magdalena Wielgocka, clerk of the Promotion Department of the Stalowa Wola Museum. We are pleased that the professional chapter and, independently, Internet users, rated our site so highly.
