Historical Café at the Museum (11.06)

History café invites you on June 11

Unforgettable Rev. Prof. Wilhelm Gaj-Piotrowski

He was born one hundred years ago: June 3, 1924 in Charzewice, and although his fate led him through the seminary in Katowice, the parishes of Lower Silesia and Warsaw, and the University of Wroclaw – after all, Rozwadów and Charzewice were always closest to him. To his native land he dedicated his fundamental scientific studies. And this is not the only thing our region owes him.

It’s been only seven and a half years since his death, many of us perfectly remember this extraordinary figure with a rich personality – a scholar, a priest, a friend… But also new generations are growing, who have not come into contact with Father Gaj-Piotrowski. For all of them – those who want to share their memories, and those who want to listen to them – we are organizing a meeting on June 11 as part of the Historical Café – but, note! – this time not in the Library, but in the building of the Regional Museum at 1 Sandomierska Street. Why exactly there? This will be discussed at the meeting. Start at 17:00.

The Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola, the Dionizego Garbacz Stalovianum Foundation and the Municipal Public Library in Stalowa Wola invite all those interested in the history of the region. We are convinced that no one who is interested in the past of these pages is familiar with the name of Rev. Gaj-Piotrowski. But do we know more about him, including from the private, human side? This remarkable man left his traces in our hearts and memory. The Historical Café is a good opportunity to talk about this, of course, over coffee… Free admission.
