First exhibition on Rev. Professor William Grove-Piotrowski on the centenary of his birth
On the centenary of the birth of Rev. Prof. Wilhelm Gaj-Piotrowski, the Museum has prepared an anniversary exhibition dedicated to this outstanding researcher of the history and folk culture of Lower Nadsanie, donor of two Stalowa Wola museums. The exhibition will feature relics donated by the priest to the Museum, the researcher’s scientific workshop and archival photographs will be presented. In addition to the museum collection, family heirlooms will be among the exhibits.
From September 29,2024, the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola will host an exhibition dedicated to the outstanding researcher of the Lower Nadsany, Rev. Professor Wilhelm Gaj-Piotrowski. The exhibition will introduce the biography of the Rev. Professor, his many interests and the research topics he developed. It will also be possible to get acquainted with his considerable literary output. The subject of socio-cultural activities initiated by him in Stalowa Wola and the region will also be emphasized. We will listen to the recollections of friends and acquaintances of the priest, who in an interesting way will bring closer his person – a man of many interests, wide education, unusual popularization and scientific activity. The historical, ethnographic, artistic and archaeological exhibits on display will introduce the nature of the regional collection he left behind. In a specially prepared mini-library, it will be possible to reach and read on the spot the publications of Rev. W. Gaja-Piotrowski on Rozwadów, to which he devoted a particularly great deal of attention. In addition, those who take part in a mini-quiz about the exhibition will receive collector’s copies of publications by Rev. W. Gaja-Piotrowski from the Rozwadów series (while supplies last).
The museum also offers educational classes for school groups during the exhibition. The lessons will introduce the scientific activities of Rev. Gaj-Piotrowski, his contributions to Rozwadów and the entire region, and his way of working. Museum workshops for various age groups will bring children and young people closer to topics to which the researcher devoted much attention in his publications, such as the folk culture of Lower Nadsanie, sphragistics, heraldry. The exhibition was prepared by a curatorial team from the museum in cooperation with the professor’s friends and acquaintances. The exhibits for the exhibition come from the museum’s and private collections. The visual arrangement was prepared by WZORRO DESIGN S.C.
