Wystawa Modna w stylu art déco podejmujmować będzie temat mody damskiej z lat dwudziestych i trzydziestych XX wieku w szerokim ujęciu, uwzględniając założenia nowoczesnego kierunku w sztuce, jakim było art déco. Na ekspozycji zaprezentujemy przede wszystkim obiekty z zakresu rzemiosła artystycznego: suknie, nakrycia głowy, obuwie, wraz z bogatym akcesorium: torebki, m.in. metalowe z siatek kolczugowych, kopertówki oraz niezbędniki kosmetyczne, wachlarze piórowe i szkło toaletowe (flakony na perfumy, puzderka). Zabytki pochodzą głównie z krajów Europy Zachodniej, duża część z Francji i Anglii, ale też ze Stanów Zjednoczonych Ameryki, Japonii, a także Polski i Czechosłowacji. Eksponaty, które zostaną zaprezentowane na wystawie to cenne obiekty kultury materialnej z zakresu mody kobiecej, obrazujące przemiany stylowe, bezsprzecznie związane z rewolucją kobiecą, jaka dokonała się w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym. Jednocześnie stanowią interesujące, nierzadko luksusowe przykłady damskiego must have, często o zaskakujących formach, np. niezbędniki, tzw. carry all.
Związki mody z handlem i reklamą są oczywiste, ale w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym przeżywają rzeczywisty boom. Ciekawym obiektem związanym z tym procesem był papierowy wachlarz reklamowy w formie balonu. Kilka z nich zaprezentujemy na ekspozycji, np. wachlarze reklamujące Galerię Lafayette, słynny paryski dom handlowy.
The exhibition will be iconographically enriched with paintings showing modern women in their style of being and carrying themselves, such as Portrait of Actress Gryf-Olszewska by Alfons Karpinski. It will be complemented by prints with portraits of fashionable Rzeszow women, made from glass negatives from Edward Janusz’s Rzeszow Photographic Plant (nota bene it was then run by the wife and daughters of the late founder), which enjoyed a period of prosperity in the interwar years. The historical background and the formation of the art déco style will be illustrated by graphic material (postcards, graphics, articles), including from the World Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1925, the cover of “Vogue” in 1929, designs from the fashion house Vionnet.
The title of the exhibition, “Fashionable in Art Deco Style,” refers to both the fashionably dressed woman and the modern, liberated, active woman – that one, but also the one today.
The opening will take place on September 15 at 4 pm.
The exhibition is open until February 16, 2025 at the Alphonse Karpinski Painting Gallery, 12 Rozwadowska Street.
The exhibition is organized from the collections of the Rzeszow District Museum, in large part from the purchased and borrowed collection of Hanna Szudzinska, and thanks to private collectors.
