Take a look at the anniversary exhibition dedicated to an extraordinary figure of merit for the region. Meet the priest – a scientist, researcher and collector – Wilhelm Gaj-Piotrowski. This man, to whom we are indebted for the establishment of our Museum, had an extremely wide range of interests: history, folk culture, numismatics, cartography, sphragistics, heraldry, archaeology… These fields he explored in his scientific activity, collected monuments, wrote books that are an invaluable knowledge base for modern researchers. At the exhibition you will see up close his scientific workshop, archival photographs, memorabilia and monuments from his numerous collections.

Lesson

Rev. Wilhelm Gaj-Piotrowski – scientist, researcher, collector

During the lesson about the scientific activity of Rev. Gaj-Piotrowski, his merits for Rozwadów and the entire region, you will learn how he acquired materials, prepared to write books, described the monuments he collected, systematized the information he acquired. Through photographs and objects you will get to know an extraordinary man with very wide interests. Who knows, maybe you too will be awakened by the passion of a collector or researcher of the past?


Workshop

grades III-VI

Postcard from Rozwadów

During the class, participants will learn what philocartistry is and learn about the oldest postcards. They will also create original postcards with one of the buildings characteristic of our city or with a Lasowiak motif. They will also learn how to address them, where to stick the stamp and how to send them so they reach the sender.


grades IV-VI

Stamps

At the workshop, children will learn a new word – sfragistics – and what it means. We will talk about the different types of stamps: ink, wax, wax, wafer stamps, how they are made and what they are used for. As part of the class, each participant will design a personalized stamp, then make it from plasticine. Thus prepared unique decorative stamp will be able, for example, to be used to mark books in the home library.

grades VI-VIII, secondary schools

Coats of arms

During the workshop we will learn what coats of arms are about, learn the most important principles of heraldry

and design of graphic symbols. Inspired, among other things, by local coats of arms of nobility and cities, participants will design and make their own coat of arms or logo. Their task will also be to include in their work elements that illustrate their interests, hobbies, initials or the sound of their name.
