STILL NATURE

Although usually associated as the author of beautiful images of women, Alfons Karpinski also created successful still lifes. Particularly popular were those depicting flowers – especially the famous yellow roses, beloved by the painter. Flower studies, the artist himself wrote, were very helpful in creating female portraits.

We invite you to attend a lecture at the permanent exhibition in the Alphonse Karpinski Painting Gallery, where on real works of art we will have the opportunity to see the whole fever of colors of flowers, and not only roses, look into secluded residential interiors, breathing calm and elegance, as well as “sit at the table” covered with a white tablecloth, with a teapot, cup and fruit in the starring role.

Alphonse Karpinski was not without reason considered a great painter and an excellent portraitist, especially of women. Few people know that he also created equally successful images of men and even children. The latter, however, are rare. At our exhibition you can see them all, look at them up close, succumb to their charm….

Portrait painting has a long tradition. Over the centuries, the way of depicting a person and his body has changed depending on the era or trend in art. Karpinski was faithful to his painting all his life, his portraits had nothing to do with the emerging new trends in European art. His painting was sort of beside the point, one might even say anachronistic. But he, as if against all odds, enjoyed recognition and demand for his works.
