Lessons

IN THE WORLD OF THE ARTIST-PAINTER

(Primary school grades I-III)

Inspiration, materials, tools, workshop… During the lesson at the exhibition we will consider what elements are essential in the creative process. Is it possible to paint a picture without using brushes, paints and easels? Is inspiration, workshop and graduated school necessary to create? What determines the success of an artist? We will end our visit to the exhibition in a real painting studio, and thanks to multimedia easels we will learn about the stages of painting and the tools needed in creative work.

Painter of Young Poland’s salons

(Elementary school grades I-III)

The great popularity of Karpinski’s still life creations is evidenced by the fact that in the pre-war period his works decorated many middle-class salons in Krakow. Beautiful and exuberant bouquets, sometimes with drooping petals, are considered the most interesting compositions. In addition to his favorite roses, Karpinski immortalized zinnias, azaleas, marigolds, mimosas, sensitively capturing their lightness. We will get to know some of the works even better through the active presentations used in the exhibition. During the classes at the exhibition, we will learn, among other things, what was the method of painting vegetation and what associations and emotions the artist conveys in his works.

Workshops

Self-portrait

(elementary school grades I-III)

Painting a self-portrait has almost as long a tradition as the act of creation itself.

Artists honed their craft in this way, studying the human figure while preserving their image for future generations. Many of them painted almost all their lives, often showing themselves in their studio, at work, with the attributes of art or with their families. During the class we will learn about different types of self-portraits in painting, using selected examples, while in the art part we will create our own self-portrait, having a mirror and a prop of our choice.

Create your own painting

(grades I-VIII of elementary school)

This is a proposal of theoretical classes combined with experimentation and fun at multimedia stations. During the workshop, participants will gain a complete knowledge of the creation of a painting and drawing work, from the workshop side and the concept of painting. They will see how to prepare a canvas, learn about different techniques, types of paint and drawing tools. They will learn what a composition is and what are its types. We’ll talk about colors and light in paintings and the themes taken up by artists. We will learn through action, short exercises and fun, so that in the future we can use the knowledge we gain to create our own painting works.

Scent of Flowers

(Preschools, grades I-VIII elementary school, high school)

An original, hand-made and flower-scented postcard, the card will probably be a nice souvenir of a visit to the Alfons Karpinski Gallery.

Among the proposed techniques (adapted to the age of participants) with which we will make the work, there will be gluing and quilling.
