
Drawing and Graphic Summer School announces a new intake!
[archived course]We cordially invite young people aged 13-18, art lovers, thirsty for new knowledge and experience to participate in the Drawing and Printmaking Summer School, organized at the Alfons Karpinski Painting Gallery. This is a unique opportunity to learn about printmaking, which is one of the basic subjects taught at art colleges.
The course will include four meetings in the historic building of the Alphonse Karpinski Painting Gallery. For a good start, the class will see adepts tackle various drawing techniques (pencil, graphite, charcoal, sanguine, pastel). Then they will get acquainted with basic graphic techniques, make their own matrix, which will allow them to make multiple prints on different substrates.
During the course you will learn what printmaking really is. You will learn about the history of various graphic techniques and Gutenberg’s influence on their development. You will expand your knowledge and skills with a technique that you are likely to encounter on your future artistic career path.

Class program:
Drawing classes. Thematic exploration within the familiar drawing techniques (pencil, graphite, charcoal, sanguine, pastel).
Colography lesson. Creative graphic exploration, the role of textures and forms.
Monotype – transfer of drawing to paper and the principle of mirror image.
Linocut. Learning about chisels – the basic tools of a graphic artist. Working on the matrix.
Getting acquainted with the problems of the specificity of engraving methods. Making your own prints.
Classes will be held on July 4-7 (Monday – Thursday) from 10:00-13:00.
The organizer provides materials for workshop printmaking: rollers, linoleum, stylus, paints, substrates.
The participant is required to provide basic drawing materials (pencil, charcoal, sanguine, breadboard eraser, A3 folder)
