1920s, 1930s at Rozwadow Market Square

1920s, 1930s at Rozwadow Market Square

On the last weekend in September, we invite everyone to the Rozvadov Market to participate in a sentimental journey to the past – to the 1920s and 1930s! There will be interesting exhibitions, musical accents, reconstruction groups, thematic workshops and flavors of that era.

The event will begin on Friday in the Karpiński Gallery with a lecture introducing us to the climate of the inter-war period, followed by a visit to the exhibition Fashionable in the art déco style. And already on Saturday, city guides and the Stalovianum Foundation will take us on a tour of old Rozwadów – together we will go to places which were important for the local community in the 1920s and 1930s. The event’s programme includes a show of vintage cars from the Automobile Club of Stalowa Wola. Visitors will be confronted with world and domestic motoring legends of those years – the sight of them will make their hearts beat faster, and perhaps even bring a tear to the eye… Cyclists from the Stalowa Wola Sokół Cycling Club will also join the event, presenting their historic vehicles, and a model of the Rozwadów railway will also be on display.

The final Sunday also promises to be interesting. We invite you to see an open-air exhibition presenting the pre-war fashion of Rozwadów. The photos were taken by pupils and students of the King Jan III Sobieski School Complex No. 3 from the classes specialising in photography and multimedia, and the models were the school’s male and female teachers. The MDK Brass Band in Stalowa Wola will also perform. The musicians will present well-known inter-war songs.

Within the framework of the event, the Karpiński Gallery and the Regional Museum invite you to visit the exhibitions free of charge. In its main building, the Museum will present two new temporary exhibitions: Ballads about places, i.e. the works of artists taking part in an open-air painting workshop organised by the District Starosty in Stalowa Wola (exhibition opening on Sunday at 4 p.m.), and a jubilee exhibition devoted to an outstanding researcher of the history and folk culture of Lower Nadsanie entitled Rev. Prof. Wilhelm Gaj-Piotrowski (1924-2017). Researcher, regionalist, donor. On the centenary of his birth. All those interested, not only the youngest participants, can take part in an art déco decoration workshop. Those interested in taking part are asked to bring along a plain T-shirt or bag.

And that’s not all! Throughout the weekend, the chefs of Rozwadów’s catering establishments will be pampering our palates. They will be serving dishes, snacks, baked goods and drinks that were on the menu between the wars.
