JUNIOR course (14-17 years old)

The Junior course is a proposal for young people wishing to deepen their knowledge and skills in drawing and painting.
1.Drawing as a basic instrument of observation and analysis of reality and the most direct means of interpreting nature and artistic expression.
2.Basic knowledge of the history of drawing and painting.
3.Basic issues in the terminology of drawing, as an autonomous field.
– Two-dimensionality of drawing,
– learning the basics and principles of realistic drawing,
– The concept of composition, its types and the importance of the contour in the composition
– linear qualities in drawing and the importance of the line,
– chiaroscuro in drawing, black and white as basic means of expression
– the issue of value; the importance of plan and value in drawing
– graphical contrast in drawing, opposition: light-dark
– basic knowledge of the proportions of man, his structure and the figure in motion as a whole and organic unity
– Getting to know basic painting techniques (watercolor, acrylic, tempera)
Practical learning of drawing and painting techniques:
pencil (graphite of different gradations of hardness), charcoal, sanguine, dry pastel, oil pastel, ink drawing (steel-redis pens, graphion), lavage drawing (ecoline, ink, watercolor), different varieties of paper-weight, painting techniques (acrylic, watercolor, tempera), monotype, graphic techniques
Examples of thematic exercises :
Composition; arrangement of geometric solids (pencil, charcoal)
Study of an object (drawing pencil, charcoal)
Still life with fruit (acrylic paints)
Plant motifs (pastels, colored pencils)
Study of a figure / mannequin (pencil, charcoal, sanguine)
Spatial composition, exercise of imagination (sanguine + paints)
Interior – drawing study (pencil, charcoal, crayons, pastels)
Head – plaster cast – drawing study
Autumn motifs, figures of imagination – (combining printmaking with painting)
