Plebiscite Historical Event of the Year 2014

The Stalowa Wola Regional Museum has once again won a prestigious award, this time for its “Made in Poland” exhibition in the Historical Event of the Year 2014 Poll, organized by the Polish History Museum.

As many as 200 events from home and abroad were submitted to the competition, from among which the jury, selected the final 15.

Four entries were nominated in the “Exhibition” category. The Stalowa Wola Museum received a distinction. However, the exhibition “Krakowscy wyklęci” from the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow was awarded. Among the honored in this category were museums from Krakow and Gdansk. Awards were also given in the categories “Event” and

“Education and Multimedia.”

“Historical Event of the Year” is a nationwide plebiscite carried out since 2007, whose honorary patron is the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

This year at the Gala at Warsaw’s Lazienki Park, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Senate of the Republic of Poland and the Polish History Museum, as well as all the authors of the nominated projects, were also present during the presentation of commemorative statuettes to the winners. The “Made in Poland” exhibition was awarded for the second time. It won its first award at the prestigious Sybil 2014 museum competition.

The “Made in Poland” exhibition was presented in the “COP for the Future” exhibition building from September 27 to November 11, 2014. At that time, the most recognizable and iconic Polish brands, creations and designs, including porcelain from Ćmielów, Polar washing machine, Ludwik liquid, Miraculum cosmetics, Gerlach cutlery or Wedel sweets, were displayed in a modern arrangement, forming part of our common iconosphere and collective memory.

The exhibition referred not only to the history of Polish design but also to the history of entrepreneurship. All of the brands on display boasted long-standing traditions, sometimes dating back several centuries. Combining two aspects at the exhibition – good design and history – they alluded to the heritage of Stalowa Wola, a city established as the most important urban development of the CID and strongly associated with the products of Stalowa Wola Steelworks.
