Jacek Galczynski - Painting
May 15 – June 22, 2008
Jacek Galczynski was born in 1960 in Biala Podlaska, attended the High School of Fine Arts in Lublin, then graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he earned his diploma (1988) at the Graphic Arts Department under Prof. Halina Chrostowska.
Engaged in printmaking, painting, drawing and even sacred sculpture, he presents a diverse artistic output. He has participated in exhibitions in Poland, Denmark, the USA, Germany and Italy. After graduation, he worked as a conservator of sacred monuments in Italy for five years. He participated in many plein-air paintings and competitions, winning high places.
The exhibition presents a series of nostalgic landscapes. The delicate, soft views express a longing for an ideal image of nature. The most important means of expression are light and color – color, which the artist enjoys a lot, is a constantly rediscovered world.
In addition to landscapes, we exhibit a series of pastel views of the architecture of Biala Podlaska. The series of delicate pastels creates a personal iconography of places that delight and inspire the artist. The drawings, with thin but crisp, decisive lines, bring out the outlines of the architecture, perfectly capturing the details of a given building, creating an accurate picture of it on the one hand, and showing a painterly, sentimental vision of the town on the other.
