Inspirations – chance and order

Inspirations - chance and order

July 3 – 27, 2014

Exhibition on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Witold Lutoslawski’s birth.

The exhibition will feature works by twenty contemporary artists, including paintings, sculptures, films, multimedia installations, and spatial constructions. Each of the participating artists in the exhibition has proposed very diverse forms of inspiration from the works of Witold Lutoslawski.

The resulting realizations more or less camouflagedly touch on the issue of the passage of time associated with the duration of a musical work. Also the appearance of the score and its relationship to the subsequent resounding of music in space have been worked through by the artists. Undoubtedly, the intuitions of the individual authors also remained separate from the context they were offered.

The competition and exhibition were prepared by the Department of Art Education of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow as part of the INSPIRATIONS project dedicated to Witold Lutoslawski on the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Polish composer.
