Literally at every turn we have to deal with design, or if you prefer with design. Design is everywhere! But we don’t usually think about how the things we come into contact with every day are created. Design is not only an element of our environment, but also a process. For design has a double meaning, we can use it both as a noun – as an element of our environment, and as a verb – a creative process that shapes our environment.

At the exhibition, viewers will be able to see 100 things that have been “inventoried” and arranged alphabetically, as is usual in a primer.
Twenty-five illustrators were invited to carry out this project, and each of them prepared four drawings. Each object has its own metric: so that viewers can find out, for example, who designed the famous Swiss Army pocket knife or a bottle of Coca-Cola, or in what year the “One” chocolate package or the “Chanel No. 5” perfume bottle, the “Vespa” scooter or “Convers” sneakers were created.
The exhibition, although by design intended for young viewers, is sure to interest adult audiences as well. Because design is everywhere, wherever we look. The title “Elementary” was first presented at the Design Łódź Festival in 2012. The exhibition is accompanied by the book “Illustrated Elementarz of Design” (author Ewa Solarz, publisher “Wytwórnia” and workshops for children.
