Artists: Janusz J. Cywicki, Ryszard Krynski, Grażyna Niezgoda, Marian Szajda, Piotr Woroniec, Rena Wota.
Idea, scenario and artistic arrangement: Dr. Grażyna Stojak
The exhibition was created as part of the 12th edition of the annual author’s projects called Artefakty, carried out by the Podkarpackie Gallery of Contemporary Art in Przemysl. Artifacts is a special project aimed at recognizing, revealing and analyzing selected problems, phenomena and trends in contemporary art. It is an innovative approach to the construction of contemporary art exhibitions, as the creation of works is preceded by a carefully considered idea. A particular aspect of the world, human nature or the surrounding nature is selected by an art theorist and presented to the artists invited to the project. This year the idea, scenario and development of the exhibition was entrusted to Dr. Grazyna Stojak.
The curator took the title for the exhibition from a painting by artist Ryszard Krynski, of the same name. Time, like the titular pig on the scooter of life, follows steadily, without stopping. All that is left for man is to try to fight on the existential chessboard and make the right choices so that he does not regret anything.
The exposition aims to show contemporary problems related to the passage of time: in our psyche (Ryszard Krynski), in the daily struggle between old age and youth (Marian Szajda), in a woman’s room (Rena Wota), in a man’s life (Janusz J. Cywicki), in the story of a house (Piotr Woroniec), in the life of a city (Grazyna Niezgoda). The idea of the presentation focuses on a few selected aspects and develops on the axis: MIND – PEACE – HOME – CITY. Although the theme would seem relatively simple and defined, each of the invited artists interprets this issue in a slightly different, sometimes surprising way.
