On the eve of Independence Day, an exhibition entitled ‘The Polish Army in the Years 1908-1945’ will be opened at the Municipal Cultural Centre in Stalowa Wola.
It is organised by the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola on the initiative of the circle of Stalowa Wola militaria collectors: Jan Gałat, Lucjan Małek, Jerzy Pawełek, Jacek Rutkowski and Wojciech Pyjor.
The exhibition will feature uniforms, weapons, eagles, badges, distinctions, as well as documents and photographs of people who were participants in the struggle for Poland’s independence in various periods of its history. Most of the exhibits come from private collections, supplemented by items from the collections of the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola, the District Museum in Sandomierz and the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw.

The second part, ‘The Polish Army in the Years 1922-1939’, will feature items related to the army of the Second Republic and to the period of Poland’s defensive war of September 1939.
The third part, ‘The Polish Army 1939-1945’, will include exhibits connected with Polish military formations operating in Western Europe, the resistance movement operating under German occupation, and the Polish army fighting alongside the Soviet Union.

The exhibition is aimed at schoolchildren and anyone interested in military history. The organisers want to bring visitors into contact with living history. For school groups, the organisers envisage the possibility of a museum lesson at the exhibition and the screening of an educational film.
