The
exhibition, which stayed in rooms of the Regional Museum
from 17th October to 16th November 2003 couldn’t escape
of painting connoisseurs’ attention. The pictures came from the Odessa Art
Museum, which has existed from a hundred years
and has got grand collection of more than 10 thousand objects.
The
exhibition was presentation that circle of Russian and Ukrainian painting of 19th
and 20th century, which exerted significant influence on the art and
allowed some authors to rise onto the summit.
One
of them was for sure Ivan Aivazovsky, who contributed to rebirth of fascinating
maritime painting. To the great technical proficiency and feeling of
perspective, he added unique dynamism and playing of colour and light.
Interesting one is also “Odessa
shore” of R. Sudovsky.
Typical Russian climate dominated in landscapes of G.
Golovkov, S. Kolesnikov and M. Pfeferkorn, but on P. Gansky’s works you could
see West-European influences.
Unreal and permeated with colour O. Gausz’es
landscapes are delightful especially. Atmosphere of gentle allusion emanates
from picture by T. Dvornikov – “Silent water”. Two pictures of Vassiliy
Kandinsky – “the father” of abstract painting, were real rarities.
Great
masters are the first ones among authors of the portraits. Images of Captain
Shevcov of Ilia Repin, “old Man in fur coat” of V. Surikov or “Portrait of
unknown man” of O. Kipriensky fascinatedof psychological depth. Portrait
painting by N. Bondarevsky and N. Kuzniecov
show artistic perfection. “The girl with blue cape” of Kiriak Kostandi delights
with its subtle grace.
